Piece of Queque was created to help you experience Spanish the way it’s actually spoken. Scroll down, we’ll tell you how it all started.

“They are the only person I feel like I truly get to understand the Spanish language fully. Classes are mixed with laughter, cultural exchange, and even history lessons on the language. I’m always looking forward for our classes! Thanks to them that my Spanish has improved sooooo much in the last few months. 🤍🫡”

Piece of Queque started as a Spanish-speaking podcast, and honestly, that says a lot about us.
Back in 2020, after some time teaching Spanish, we realized something was missing: students needed a space to practice real Spanish. Not textbook Spanish. Not overly polished Spanish. But the kind people actually use, while learning about Latin American culture along the way.
That’s how the podcast was born: created for intermediate learners who wanted to listen, understand, and feel part of the language.
Today, Piece of Queque is mainly run by me (Dax) alongside friends in the project (like Ale), and it’s grown into much more than a podcast.
We now offer online classes and clubs designed to give people access to real Spanish, cultural context, and, most importantly, a comfortable, pressure-free learning experience.
I’m a native Spanish speaker from Costa Rica, a language lover, and a full-time conversationalist.
I speak English and Portuguese, and I’ve spent years traveling around Latin America (with my cat Phoebe), living in places like Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, and Bolivia; learning firsthand how people actually speak in different countries.
Accents, slang, perspectives; I love all of it.

Our approach is simple: no pressure, no gatekeeping, no judgment.
We believe learning a language should feel human. Piece of Queque is a safe space for everyone, including LGBTQIA+ 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ people and anyone, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or background.
You don’t need to be “good enough” to be here; you just need curiosity.
All our classes are online and open to students from anywhere in the world.
We work with all levels and ages, and with anyone who wants to gain confidence, fluency, and cultural understanding.
At the end of the day, this is about connection.
Spanish is the excuse; we’re really here for the conversations, the culture, and the joy of learning together.
